Can I use the credits from Seminar XXI towards my degree?

NO. Seminar XXI is not a “credit” program. There are no written assignments or grading. Fellows will receive a certificate of completion from the MIT Seminar XXI Program.

What is the schedule for the meetings?

Week night sessions run from 5:00-9:00 PM with dinner at 7:30 PM. Weekend sessions begin on Friday at 6:00 PM and run through Sunday 12:30 PM. The weekend schedule is available one month before the session

Can I park at the Cosmos Club?

NO. Seminar XXI attendees are not allowed to park in the Cosmos parking lot. This is a private club, and the parking privileges do not extend to non-members. Cosmos has an attendant that will prevent non-members from using their parking lot. We will provide you with information on parking locations in the area for.

Do I need to make my own reservation with Airlie House for the weekend session?

NO. Seminar XXI will handle all reservations and costs associated with your lodging & meals during the weekend session. Airlie will not handle or accept any individual reservation/requests from fellows or faculty attending the sessions.

How do I confirm or cancel my attendance to the meetings?

For Monday sessions the program will contact you via email every month to remind you to RSVP to the upcoming session. If your schedule changes and you are not able to attend, please contact the Seminar XXI office as soon as possible either by email or phone. For weekend sessions: Please note that, within 30 days prior to the weekend session, Seminar XXI is responsible for 100% of the reservation cost at Airlie House. Last minute cancellation does not help the program save money.

Can I bring my family/spouse to the sessions?

NO. We do not accommodate spouses and families. It is our policy not to have spouses or family joining the fellows, faculty, or staff during the sessions.

How and when can I access the readings for each session?

The readings (pdf files) for each session are prepared monthly and posted on the website one session at a time. The session readings will be available online for 3 months from the date they are posted and can be downloaded at your convenience. Readings are only available to the current fellows and not to alumni. To access readings fellows must register and log in.

Important copyright information: Due to electronic copyright laws we can not make these readings available to the public, to alumni or post them ahead of time. Copyright permits are issued for fellows currently enrolled in the program only.

How and when do I set up an account in order to log in and get access to the class readings?

Once you have received your acceptance notification via email you may register. You can find a step-by-step process to create an account here.

What is the dress code for the events?

The dress code for the opening session at the National Press Club is business attire or uniform. The dress code for Monday nights at the Cosmos Club is business attire or uniform. Dress code for weekends at Airlie House is casual. Jeans and khakis are acceptable.

If I lose my certificate may I get a replacement?

NO. Upon request Seminar XXI can provide a letter verifying your participation in the program.

ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENT

Fellows must attend at least two weekend sessions and three week night sessions to receive the certificate of completion from the program.
